Website Building

Your website is where Kite's work often starts. Kite builds it, hosts it, and keeps it updated, handling hosting, security, and deploys so your team can focus on the business.

How website work happens​

There are two ways site work gets done, and most teams use both:

  • From Slack. Ask for a page or a change in a thread. Kite builds it as a draft and posts a card with Preview and Review buttons. Reply "publish it" and Kite deploys it, or click Review and press Publish in the editor yourself.
  • In the browser editor. Open your site, describe a change in chat or click an element to change it directly, preview the result, and click Publish. See Building & editing your site.

What Kite handles for you​

  • Building. Kite writes the pages, layout, copy, and styling from a description of what you need, and shows you three design options to start from.
  • Hosting and deploys. Every published site gets a free your-site.kite.space address, which you can rename. On the Growth or Business plan you can connect your own domain. See Custom domains.
  • Search groundwork. Kite generates page titles, a live sitemap, a robots file that welcomes AI crawlers, an llms.txt, and structured data, and on paid plans it verifies your domain with Google Search Console and submits the sitemap after publish. See SEO & discoverability.
  • Analytics and leads. Built-in analytics, a Leads inbox for form submissions, and a Discoverability tab. See Site analytics.
  • Updates. Ask for changes in Slack or the editor and Kite makes them.

Bringing an existing site​

Kite can import an existing website or a GitHub repository, keep the code in sync both ways, and edit content in an external CMS such as Contentful, Sanity, Storyblok, Webflow, or Payload. See Integrations and Migrate an existing site.
